Job Description
The Department of Management (DOM), Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is seeking a skilled and motivated Network and Systems Administratorto provide high-quality IT customer support and resolve complex technical issues.
This position will require a proactive approach to managing IT resources, coordinating system upgrades, and ensuring the security and functionality of our IT systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary IT contact, addressing day-to-day technical issues related to IT systems, and resolve operational/infrastructure problems while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
Work with internal and external teams, departments, and leadership to gather information, plan, test, and implement projects that improve operational efficiency, while also guiding lower-level IT staff.
Serve as the primary contact for support, upgrades, and troubleshooting of camera and card access systems, including resolving issues with cameras, network, recording, and door control systems.
Use scripting to automate site software processes, assist with report creation, and collaborate on implementing solutions that improve site operations and align with business practices.
Oversee the installation, configuration, security, patching, and documentation of both physical and virtual servers at a site, ensuring backups are routinely validated and disaster recovery plans are implemented.
Collaborate with local stakeholders to develop redundancy and resiliency documentation, support multi-location systems, and communicate updates and issues to management and executives.
Install, configure, and maintain local and wide-area networking equipment, ensuring alignment with site-specific needs and standards, and monitor network performance for issues and outages.
Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure, manage physical networking media, and coordinate necessary updates or maintenance with site management and executives.
Manage and maintain computers and peripherals at the site, ensuring security, routine updates, and functionality, while creating and modifying automation, documenting systems, and adhering to DOM-DoIT standards to improve efficiency and productivity.

Additional training is required for Department of Corrections Support. Training will be on-site at the Jessie Parker building in Des Moines for 3 weeks.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and experience equal to two years of full-time work: operating a multi-job computer; installing, operating and coordinating computer based networks; installing/maintaining database management systems; developing business application processes; developing/operating system programs; installing/maintaining personal computers, Local Area Networks and/or servers; managing operating systems; developing/ delivering information management training; providing Information Technology (IT) customer service; or designing/administering Internet sites;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the completion of an approved curriculum/specialized training program developed and implemented by or in cooperation with state government; or eighteen semester hours of accredited post high school course work in one of the specialty areas listed above; or certification by an authorized educational institution/major computer or software producer in an area directly related to one of the specialty areas listed above, for the required education;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of the required experience for thirty semester hours of the required education;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to six months of full-time work as an Information Technology Specialist 3.
