       The head coach is responsible for the development of the total program in grades 7-12. This shall include the written philosophy and objectives of each level.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Communicates to the administration the philosophy and overall expectations of the program. 2. Cooperates with the Activities Director in providing input for the scheduling process. 3. Cooperates with the Activities Director on all matters pertaining to the ordering and purchasing of equipment. 4. Notifies all eligible students of the pre-season meeting and informs them of dates and times of practice sessions. 5. Distributes to all athletes and parents the expectations for all students in accordance with the Board of Education’s Good Conduct Policy and communicates any additional rules and guidelines you may have concerning attendance, requirements for lettering and participation awards, and any other rules specific to the sport. 6. Maintains an accurate equipment inventory and submits a list of replacement needs to the Activities Director. This includes any necessary medical supplies. 7. Provides for the proper maintenance and storage of equipment. 8. Cooperates with the local media in providing appropriate information necessary to gain adequate coverage of the program, its’ participants, and its’ events. 9. Conducts a public relations program with parents and community members. 10. Sets a positive example for athletes, including bench conduct and self-control. Emphasizes the importance of practicing good sportsmanship to the athletes. 11. Develops organized practice plans and conducts all practice sessions. 12. Develops specific responsibilities for assistant coaches and monitors the execution of these responsibilities. 13. Be sure all squad members have had a physical examination by a physician and these physical forms are kept on file for reference. 14. Be aware of legal responsibilities (liability) related to your sport. Supervise locker rooms and practice areas before, during and after practice. 15. Pursues professional growth in coaching areas through regular attendance at rules meetings and coaching clinics. Encourages other staff members to participate in these activities. 16. Conducts all activities in accordance with state association guidelines. 17. Carries out all administrative tasks assigned by the state athletic association and/or the school administration. 18. Be responsible for preparing the athletes in a manner which will lessen the chance for injury and be knowledgeable in the care of normal athletic-related injuries. Serious injuries should be referred to a physician or hospital. 19. Organizes and maintains health record cards for all athletes under the coach’s supervision and keeps these records on file in a trainer’s kit at all competitive events for quick reference in the event of injury to the athlete which may require medical attention. 20. Reports all training rules violations to the principal and the athletic director Activities Director. 21. Maintains such records and statistics as are necessary for school records. 22. Be responsible for enforcing all school board policies which may pertain to coaching responsibilities. 23. Meets and confers with assistant coaches and middle school coaches as needed to develop a coordinated total program.
