Job Summary:

Managing and optimizing the capacity of resources within an organization. Capacity operations professionals play a crucial role in ensuring that the organization’s resources such as infrastructure, equipment, and personnel are utilized efficiently to meet demand and maximize productivity. They assess resource availability, identify bottlenecks, and develop capacity plans to ensure that the organization can meet current and future demand. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to align capacity plans with business objectives and optimize resource allocation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead your team to cover all freight assigned to their regions, communicate the status of their shipments for pickup, transit, and delivery, and ensure all of their carrier charges are updated timely and accurately for customer invoicing and carrier payment

  • Stay closely in tune with freight market trends to lead your team in adapting and quickly identify if your team is purchasing transportation in alignment with current costs and market factors

  • Build trust and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including but not limited to your direct team, key internal stakeholders (peers, marketing, sales, finance, HR, leadership, etc.), key customer contacts, and key carrier contacts (drivers, dispatchers, owners, etc.)

  • Grow profitably by managing the PnL for the scope of business you oversee. You will have autonomy in scaling the business, leveraging appropriate technology, seeking training programs, and oversight of workforce planning and compensation

  • Continuously improve and develop employees by establishing and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that will drive the behaviors of your team. Ensure that your team knows what a good day/week/month looks like and lead them to manage their day-to-day to those expectations. Communicate performance against KPIs through daily dashboard reports and recurring 1x1 meetings with your directs

  • Ability to travel when necessary though travel will be limited

  • Guide and train employees

  • Develop, maintain, and execute department policies that affect other areas

  • Write appraisals, hire, fire, and discipline with management approval

  • Ensure quality and productivity goals are met

Experience Sought:

An energetic and personable sales leader with three or more years of experience in freight or supply chain sales. At least one year of experience empowering and coaching high-performing inside sales teams. A college degree is highly preferred.

This position will be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) with a target payout of 10% of the annual base salary.

Work Location: Onsite at our office in Cedar Rapids Monday- Friday 7am to 5pm.
