Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to support soil and water conservation and stewardship? If so, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s (http://www.iowaagriculture.gov) Division of Soil Conservation and Water Quality may be a great fit for you.
The Division of Soil Conservation and Water Quality (Division) is seeking a team member to provide administrative assistance for several conservation programs. The Division provides farmers and conservation partners with expertise and funds to help them install practices that preserve our highly productive soil, prevent erosion and protect our critical waterways.
In this role, the right candidate will work in several key areas:
Administrative Program Support for Contracts, Agreements and Division Staff
Work with program managers and staff to prepare, distribute, and manage contracts and agreements for water quality and urban conservation projects
Monitor contract deliverables and budgets to ensure compliance
Develop and maintain organizational systems to efficiently collect and track contracts and agreements
Communicate with customers and contract holders via phone, email, or in-person/off-site meetings to provide guidance and clarification regarding contracts
Maintain knowledge of current state and federal contracting policies and procedures
Prepare bills for conveyance to accounting staff and maintain electronic file of transactions
Coordination of Staff Support and Development Activities
Research ideas and develop workforce support activities for Division staff, including internship programs and new employee training
Develop relationships with local colleges and employment agencies, and attend career fairs and other recruitment opportunities to identify potential internship and staffing pathways

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field, and experience equal to one year of full-time administrative support (e.g., screening visitors and callers; opening/distributing mail, typing/proofing documents, letters, and reports; organizing files; scheduling meetings/appointments; arranging travel; processing travel claims; ordering supplies/equipment) or technical support work (e.g., determining budget, personnel, and equipment needs; compiling/evaluating statistical, historical, economic, business, financial or technical program data; interpreting or securing compliance with laws, rules and regulations; reviewing operating records/reports and evaluating their effectiveness).
A total of five years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one) where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 12 months of full-time work as an Administrative Assistant 1.
