The purpose of this position is to manage the daily operations of the Registrar's office including transfer articulation, integration and maintenance of student systems, communications to students, faculty and academic departments, external reporting, developing enhancements to registration systems and maintaining student academic records.

HIPAA SECURITY COMPLIANCE :
Security Access: High Incumbent has access to restricted or confidential personnel and student information and must comply with the terms of the policies of regulatory requirements of Mercy College and affiliates as they relate to the position.
FERPA SECURITY COMPLIANCE:
Incumbent has access to confidential information related to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99), a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records and must comply with the terms of the law as it applies to their job role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages the Student Information System for the Registrar’s office. Ensures data entered is accurate and timely.
Oversees the enrollment verification process at the beginning of each semester. Coordinates student attendance verification with faculty to meet federal financial aid compliance.
Oversees Transferology Administration, Maintains current knowledge of Transfer Credit Practices, Articulation Agreements and Transfer Guide.
Creates/maintains the Degree Audit Module.
Generates reports, for internal and external recipients.
Assists students with registration, degree audits and withdrawal requests.
Services as a school certifying official for the Veterans Administration.
Assists Registrar with developing course term schedules, updating the College catalog, and Registrar’s Office webpage.
Assists in the planning and coordination of commencement.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree.
Demonstrated experience in a higher education’s student affairs department.
Demonstrated ability to interpret policy and make sound independent decisions.
Demonstrated technical ability with information systems.
Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communicative skills.
Knowledgeable about governmental regulations pertaining to higher education.
Experience working in a Registrar’s office preferred.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS : (Constant = 67%-100% of workday, Frequent = 34%-66% of workday, Occasional = 33% or less of workday)
CONSTANT:
- Sight, hearing, talking, sitting, and the use of gross and fine motor skills.
FREQUENT:
- Walking, standing, lifting, twisting, bending, stooping, and feeling.
PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS :
- Light work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time.
VISUAL ACUITY REQUIREMENTS :
- Requires usage of computer terminal, extensive reading and deciphering of detailed materials and recognition of persons at a distance.
INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
· Ability to adapt to constant change from one task to another, possibly of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure.
· Ability to perform under stress when confronted with an unusual, dangerous, or emergency situation or in situations when working speed and sustained attention is crucial.
- Ability to influence others’ opinions, attitudes or judgments.
· Must function efficiently under demanding time frames.
· Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with students and co-workers despite the stress of the office work environment.

- Computer, photocopier, printer, telephone, fax machine, audiovisual equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office work).

- Reports to Registrar.
