Principal Financial Group Broker Dealer Trader II in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We’re looking for a Broker Dealer Trader II to join our Broker Dealer Services team. In this role, you’ll provide prompt, courteous and excellent service to registered representatives, investment advisors and clients by solving problems and answering questions about investment accounts. This advanced level role provides oversight and execution of Brokerage and Advisory platform trading functions. You will collaborate frequently with partners located nationally in this role!

  • Provide daily phone support to Principal Securities registered reps and their clients related to brokerage accounts holding a wide array of securities. Respond to questions and resolve problems relating to potential and existing customer accounts, trade approvals, compliance regulations, available products, and industry information.

  • Specific knowledge of securities regulations will be necessary to appropriately respond while staying in compliance with FINRA and SEC Regulations.

  • Work on daily reports and other requirements while adhering to strict adherence to Firm, FINRA and SEC regulations. Responsible for reviewing for Best Execution of trades to analyze, research and report on deficiencies. Login to FINRA CAT portal daily to review and correct any errors within FINRA reported timelines.

  • Work to maintain firm policies and procedures and ensure adherence by the team. Provide system assistance and training to registered representatives and clients on software used to enter trades, view accounts, acquire research, and manage portfolios. Encourage users to learn new functionality and help them to submit orders through the system.

  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required including a focus on advisory products.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Holds active FINRA Series 7, 24 & 66

  • Excellent knowledge of state and federal security regulations

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including telephone communication experience/skills and grammar and letter writing skills

  • Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

  • Highly skilled at fostering teamwork and perform effectively in a team-oriented atmosphere

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • 2+ years of prior Broker Dealer experience preferred

  • FINRA Series 53 & 4

  • Prior FINRA CAT experience helpful

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$51000 - $98400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.

We’ll consider talent at the next level with the right experiences and skills. In order to be considered for the Broker Dealer III you will need the above qualifications + your Series 4 and Series 53.
