Humana Code Edit Disputes Team Medical Coding Coordinator in Des Moines, Iowa

The Medical Coding Coordinator 3 extracts clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate procedural terminology and medical codes (e.g., ICD-10-CM, CPT) to patient records. The Medical Coding Coordinator 3 performs advanced administrative/operational/customer support duties that require independent initiative and judgment. May apply intermediate mathematical skills.

Code Edit Disputes researches/reviews and educates providers when there is a dispute on adjudicated claims that contain a code editing related denial or recovery. Analyzes, enters and manipulates database. Responds to or clarifies internal requests for medical information. Decisions are typically focus on methods, tactics and processes for completing administrative tasks/projects. Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in prioritizing requests and interpreting and adapting procedures, processes and techniques, and works under limited guidance due to previous experience/breadth and depth of knowledge of administrative processes and organizational knowledge.

WORK STYLE: 100% remote/work at home.

WORK HOURS: Typical business hours are Monday-Friday, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week. Work hours are between 6AM-6PM EST.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • AAPC or AHIMA Coding Certification (no Apprentice)

  • 2 years' experience as a Certified Medical Coder

  • Ability to problem solve complex issues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 5 or more years of experience as a Certified Medical Coder

  • Knowledge of MS Office programs

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$43,400 - $59,600 per year
