Principal Financial Group Infrastructure Engineer I (Hybrid) in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As an Infrastructure Engineer on the Distributed Hosting Linux server team, you’ll provide strategic support and execution of organizational initiatives across our global landscape. In addition, you will collaborate with internal clients, peers, and leadership to support the modernization of our hybrid hosting strategy.

As a Member of the Team, You Will:

  • Contribute to departmental and organizational initiatives.

  • Building and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure Linux server hosting solutions.

  • Perform operations work, including working support requests for internal customers.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Build, deploy, and maintain Linux server infrastructure in a hybrid environment.

  • Configure and optimize server resources & settings.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot server performance to ensure system heath and stability.

  • Develop and maintain automation pipelines & scripts.

  • Create and update process documentation.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) or equivalent experience.Ability to provide on call support on a rotating basis.

  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners.

  • Basic planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills required.

Preferred Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Linux; Red Hat Enterprise Linux a plus.

  • Experience with infrastructure as code with Terraform.

  • Experience with configuration as code with Ansible.

  • Experience with AWS CDK.

  • Scripting and automation experience with Bash, Python, and other languages.

  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Open to giving and receiving constructive feedback.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$60000 - $101000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
