Job Summary: Under general supervision of the school principal a teacher provides a high-quality education through effective planning, delivering instruction, assessing student achievement and progress, and managing the learning environment in order to best meet the student’s academic and social-emotional needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Utilizes research based strategies to address unfinished learning.
Plan and deliver daily lessons aligned to state and district standards that meet students’ needs to ensure growth.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet student learner differences.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects.
Establish and communicate clear standards of student behavior to ensure a safe, welcoming and effective learning environment.
Monitor student learning on a daily basis to identify areas of growth and need.
Build positive relationships with students and engage their families to ensure support for student growth and learning.
Assess student learning by using data and student feedback to inform instructional practices.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by district policy, administrative regulations and state law.
Maintain knowledge of and comply with the eight Iowa Teaching Standards.
Participate in required staff professional development and meetings.
Maintain confidentiality.
Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in teaching field.
Iowa teaching license with appropriate endorsement for subject area.
Interpersonal skills that exhibit friendliness, tact, patience and courtesy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
Knowledge of classroom technologies or willingness to acquire the required knowledge.
Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the daily requirements of the position.
Competency working in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment or the willingness or acquire these skills.
