GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION

Position:Lead Teacher

Qualifications:

· Previous experience working with children.

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Good communication skills with the public.

· First-Aid / CPR certified

· Provide an acceptable criminal records check.

Essential Function: Ability to lift 35-45 pounds and has regular attendance.

Reports To: Kid’s Place Director

Consults With: Parents, staff

Position Goal: To provide a safe, nurturing, and well-organized day care environment with developmentally appropriate activities in which children can learn and grow.

Performance Responsibilities:

· Attends weekly planning meetings with director and monthly staff meetings.

· Develops lesson plans for the full day for your assigned room.

· Have all materials and instructions prepared for the implementation of the planned lessons.

· Facilitates weekly communication with co-workers and other staff in the room.

· Supervises activities, as assigned, by:

· Participating with children in activities

· Enforcing safety rules, inside and on playground

· Intervening when children are likely to injure themselves or each other

· Remaining with the children at all times or seeing the children are being attended to

· Assisting with self care activities

· Assisting with use of supplies and equipment

· Orders supplies and materials.

· Communicates with the Director and/or Assistant Director regarding difficult individual children or groups of children.

· Assists with breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks, which includes sitting with the children family style and the cleaning duties which follow, and recording meal counts.

· Be knowledgeable of the emergency file and emergency procedures.

· Knows the tornado and fire procedures for the program and assists in the supervision of required drills.

· Be punctual in room and on the job prior to the start of the shift, and notify the Director and/or Assistant Director if you are to be late or absent.

· Insures that child:adult ratios are adequate to meet DHS guidelines and individual needs of the room and reports to Director and/or Assistant Director.

· Always know the count and have current list of children in the room.

· Maintains daily childcare report and hourly count of service report.

· Maintaining proper student discipline in accordance to Success 4.

· Maintains the room so it is kept neat and orderly.

· Greets parents upon arrival into the room. Maintains communication regarding activities and events occurring within the program.

· Always inform the Director and/or Assistant Director of your arrival and departure.

· Trains and models appropriate interaction with children for childcare associates.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of theBoard’s policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
