POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic trainer will provide first aid, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. They will assist with
coverage at game-day events and travel to assigned road contests, as well as coverage
of athletic training room, practices, intercollegiate and competitive club contests.
Key Responsibilities
Prevents, evaluates, and treats athletic injuries and illness.
Prepare and maintain accurate and up to date medical records for student-athletes, including insurance claims.
Performs daily rehabilitation and preparation of athletes for practices and competitions, and helps to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe workplace.
Communicates and collaborates with a variety of individuals, including sports medicine staff, coaches, administrators, and various offices on campus.
Responsible for the implementation and coordination of care and management of competitive club sport athletes.
Maintain regular attendance in accordance with department policy.
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
Understand and comply with the policies of the NCAA Division III , Midwest Conference, Athletic Training Code of Ethics, College Staff Handbook.
Perform duties as a team member in a manner supportive of department and College procedures, policies and goals.
Protect confidentiality of college information.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Communicate with others in a courteous and helpful manner.
May be asked to fill positions considered essential during weather emergencies or other events requiring special staffing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in athletic training or relevant field
BOC certification and Iowa Licensure or eligibility required.
One year or more experience is required (Athletic Training experience as part of a master’s practicum will count toward experience)
Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
