Assistant High School Volleyball Coach

Position Overview: The Assistant Volleyball Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to help guide and develop student-athletes, ensuring their growth both on and off the court. This position involves assisting with practice planning, game preparation, individual player development, and fostering a positive, team-first culture. The Assistant Coach will play a key role in ensuring the team operates smoothly and that athletes are given the tools they need to excel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in the planning and execution of daily practices, drills, and team workouts, focusing on individual and team skill development.
  • Work with players on refining technical volleyball skills, including serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and defense.
  • Provide on-court coaching during practices and games, offering feedback and guidance to help athletes improve.
  • Support game-day preparation, including team warm-ups, player rotations, and logistics.
  • Help monitor player progress, ensuring athletes stay motivated, focused, and engaged throughout the season.
  • Foster positive relationships with players, encouraging teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
  • Assist with the development of game strategies and in-game decision-making under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Maintain team organization by helping manage equipment, uniforms, and other team needs.
  • Assist in organizing team events, including team-building activities, fundraising efforts, and community outreach programs.
  • Support the communication efforts with players, parents, and school administration.
  • Ensure the team follows all safety protocols and maintains compliance with school and league regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals and the ability to teach these skills effectively to players of varying skill levels.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to motivate student-athletes and provide constructive feedback in a positive, encouraging manner.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a coaching team.
  • Ability to pass a background check and comply with all school safety protocols.
  • Must be willing to commit to the full duration of the season and attend all practices, games, and team events.
