Job Description:

Job Title: Food Service Department Regional Manager

Department: Retail

FSLA: Exempt

General Function:

This position ensures store food service operations comply with company policy and philosophy. Sets the department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and overall profitability.

Reporting Relations:

Accountable and Reports to: Regional Vice President

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides sales and marketing ideas to food service department managers. Supervises freshness and quality of products at stores. Reviews monthly inventories, sales, profit, and volume sold per employee hour. Trains department managers on planning for the department. Maintains standards by communicating, training, and reinforcing corporate expectations for sanitation practices and product quality, variety, and price. Keeps current on industry trends in new food items, equipment, and methods. Assists with the development of new products. Ensures pricing is competitive in the market area.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required. Attends and participates in company meetings, industry meetings, and trade shows Performs departmental duties as needed. Fills displays and works in the sales area. Unloads trucks, checks in delivered merchandise and places product in appropriate storage area.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; 3-5 years of food service department preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Instructing, assigning work, reviewing work, planning the work of others, and maintaining standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.

  • Must be physically able to perform heavy work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 100 pounds, and significant standing or walking.

  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

There is weekly pressure to meet deadlines.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

10 key calculator, telephone, copier, FAX, PC with Excel and printer. Standard tools and equipment used in a food service departments.

Financial Responsibility:

Responsible for ordering equipment for departments, company car and credit cards.

Contacts:

Has daily contact with store personnel. Has monthly contact with suppliers/vendors.

Confidentiality:

Has access to confidential financial statement information.
